Range: — Central America ; Antilles; northern South America south to Bolivia ( CO, LP) and Brazil (Paraná) .
Ecology: —Uncommon; epiphytic in lower to mid-elevation montane forests; 1000–3000 m.
Notes: —A variable species, the delimitation of which is problematic, especially in the northern Andes, Antilles, and Central America. Individuals that are morphologically intermediate between P.taxifolius , P. linifolius , and P. homocarpus (Herter) B.Øllg. are frequent.
