Type species. Cicada cintomaculata Stål 1854: 243 . ( Venezuela)
REMARKS. These are robust cicadas, the body covered being with long, thick pile, abdomen being shorter than the length between the apex of head and posterior cruciform elevation, and fore wings are infuscated along most or all veins ( Stål 1861; Torres 1960).
DISTRIBUTION. Species have been recorded from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela ( Metcalf 1963b; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2013; 2019b; Sanborn & Heath 2014).
