Subtribe Taphurina Distant, 1905b

There are currently two subtribes within the Taphurini after the reassignment of the genera previously assigned to the Tryellina Moulds, 2005 into the Lamotialnini Boulard, 1976 ( Marshall et al. 2018). Anopercalnina contains a single genus whose males lack opercula and is restricted to Madagascar ( Boulard 2008) and can quickly be distinguished from the species of the Taphurina . Only Taphura contains multiple species, the remaining eight Neotropical genera within the Taphurina are monospecific. Selymbria Stål, 1861 was recently moved to its own tribe in the Tibicininae Distant, 1905d ( Marshall et al. 2018).
