REMARKS. The specimens from Peru in the type series represented the first record of the genus in Peru ( Sanborn 2019b). The generic characters will separate the species from the other Peruvian cicadas. Tympanoterpes virgulata can also be recognized by the abdominal segments 3 and 4 being wider than the mesothorax and the transverse piceous fasciae on the anterodorsal abdominal tergites.
DISTRIBUTION. The species has been reported from Bolivia and Peru ( Sanborn 2019b).
