Genus Cracenpsaltria Sanborn, 2016c View in CoL

Cracenpsaltria Sanborn 2016c: 514 View in CoL View Cited Treatment .

Type species. Cicada marginata Olivier 1790: 755 View in CoL . (Suriname)

REMARKS. As stated above, the genus is similar to Ariasa in general appearance with the type species being assigned to Ariasa before the erection of the genus ( Sanborn 2016c). However, species of the genus can be distinguished easily by the separate, long hooked lateral uncal lobes, angled pygofer distal shoulder, lack of laterally expanding abdominal segments, and length of the abdomen being greater than distance between apex of head and posterior cruciform elevation in Cracenpsaltria . Species of Cracenpsaltria have a thinner appearance than species of Ariasa . The contrasting coloration pattern of the two known species is also different from Ariasa species.

DISTRIBUTION. The genus has been recorded from Bolivia, Brazil, French Guiana, Peru, South America, and Suriname ( Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2011a, b; 2013; 2016c; 2019b; Sanborn & Heath 2014). First records for Ecuador ( Sanborn 2019b) were published recently.
