Carineta producta Walker 1858b: 24 View in CoL . ( Colombia)
REMARKS. This is one of two larger species that presents spots of infuscation in the distal apical cells of the fore wings, infuscation of the fore wing crossveins, radiating infuscation in the fore wing marginal area and infuscated marginal area of the hind wings. It can be distinguished from C. submarginata Walker, 1850 by the radiomedial crossvein that is almost perpendicular to the radius posterior and median vein 1 and the lack of infuscation on the medial and mediocubital crossveins and on the ambient vein of apical cells 4–8, and the absence of a spot of infuscation in the hind wing. Both C. centralis and C. trivitatta also have a spot of infuscation in the hind wing but C. centralis lacks spots of infuscation in the fore wing crossveins and C. trivitatta lacks the infuscation along the ambient vein and spots of infuscation in distal apical cells 2–5.
DISTRIBUTION. The species has been reported from Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru ( Metcalf 1963c; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2013; 2019b).
