Genus Hyalistata Wheeler View in CoL

Hyalistata Wheeler, 1960: 67 View in CoL . Type species: Pseudiastata pictiventris Wheeler, 1960 View in CoL (as a subgenus). Grimaldi, 1993: 2 (generic status).

Diagnosis (adapted from Grimaldi, 1993). General body color slightly dark to light yellow; arista micropubescent; wing hyaline; proclinate fronto-orbital seta slightly smaller than anterior reclinate fronto-orbital seta; one postpronotal seta and 6–7 postpronotal setulae; tergites with a varied pattern of spots ( Table 1 View TABLE 1 ), ventral lobe of epandrium with 12–15 fine setulae, all with large sockets; cercus with numerous short, fine setulae (no distinctively large setae). A pair of postgonites with apical comb-like row of 8–14 long, heavily sclerotized peg-prensisetae. Pregonites as rounded lobes, largely fused to hypandrium, with 4–12 fine setulae. Phallus indistinguishable or distiphallus large, bulbous, sometimes with a pair of small, lightly sclerotized flanges. Hypandrium with a narrow base, distinctively Y-shaped or asymmetrical, often bent (except for H. pallida ).
