Genus Pseudiastata Coquillett View in CoL

Pseudiastata Coquillett, 1908: 148 View in CoL . Type species: Pseudiastata nebulosa Coquillett, 1908 View in CoL .

Diagnosis (adapted from Coquillett, 1908 and Hardy, 1959). General body color dark yellow, with all setae and setulae dark yellow; arista micropubescent; anterior fronto-orbital seta inclinate; wing dark brown maculated with two patterns: a) strongly darkened (see in Fig. 1b View FIGURE 1 ), in which only the anal lobe is less dark and b) with three welldefined markings, one small macula at wing base, at the level of costal break reaching crossvein r–m, another across the anterior-posterior wing axis, at level of vein dm–m and a third small macula at R 2+3 apex. The wing membrane coloration pattern is very particular to the species. For a detailed view see Fig. 1b View FIGURE 1 . In a general view, wing membrane predominantly maculated, with three main arms, one basal, one medial, and one distal. Arms not continuous, having some immaculate rounded spots in each area. Basal arm not reaching the posterior margin of the wing, ending close to the CuA + CuP. Medial and distal arms reaching the posterior margin of the wing. Frons with numerous short interfrontal setulae; abdominal tergites I–II completely dark yellow, remaining tergites with wide gray spots; surstylus fused to epandrium; lateral view of epandrium distinctly lobate or partially lobate at ventral apices; postgonite pointed and narrow.
