Andrographis neesiana Wight (1850b: 8 , t. 1561)

Type:— INDIA. Tamil Nadu: Dindigul district, Pulney hills, 1837, Wight 2705 (lectotype K000545948 image!, isolectotype K000545947 image!; designated here) Fig. 3 .

Discussion:— Wight (1850b) described the species based on his collections from Pulney [Palani] mountains in Tamil Nadu. A total of seven sheets of Wight 2703 and 2705, collected from Pulney hills have been traced at CAL, E, and K either as image or specimen and were critically examined. Of these, two specimens of Wight 2705 (K000545947 & K000545948) have the name written by the original author. Therefore, the specimen Wight 2705 with barcode number, K000545948 has been selected as the lectotype since it is complete with flowers and fruits and also matches very well with the description and illustration provided in the original publication.
