Type:— INDIA. Tamil Nadu: Nilgiris district, Nilgherry , without date, Wight 54 (lectotype K, image!; designated here). Fig. 2 .

Discussion:— Nees (1832) described Erianthera lobelioides (= Justicia lobeliodes Wall. , nom. nud.) based on two specimens, viz. Wall. Numer. List No. 2484 (Herb. Wight) and Wight 54 collected from Nilgherry [Nilgiris]. The study of digital images of both specimens shows that Wight 54 (K) has annotations with author’s original handwriting. On top-left of the herbarium sheet (of Wight 2022, K000592605), the specimen of Wight 54 is pasted with a note “ studied by Nees ” and place of collection (Nilgherry) and collection number (Wight 54) are provided at the bottom-left of the sheet. Whilst, Wall., Numer. List No. 2484 at K is without information about the place of collection and name of collector. Therefore, Wight 54 is selected here to serve as the lectotype for the name, E. lobelioides , since it is complete and also matches well with the details in the original publication.
