Diagnosis. This species has an almost completely carinate propodeum with a well-defined area superomedia and very strongly tapered mandibles that are apically twisted, so when they are closed they appear more or less unidentate and needle-sharp ( Gauld, et al., 2002).
Remarks. Gauld et al. 2002 reported considerable variation in color in this species, however we did not find such variation in the color pattern of the species when comparing our material with the paratypes at the BMNH. Distribution. Costa Rica, Brazil. The specimens were collected in Brazilian savannah (Itapeva Ecological Station) and semideciduous forest (Mogi Guaçu Ecological Station), in São Paulo State, Southeast Brazil. Biology. Unknown.
