Potthastia gaedii ( Meigen, 1838: 13) (as Diamesa ); Pagast (1947: 491–493, Abb. 61).

Potthastia togabicolis Sasa et Okazawa, 1992b: 206 –207, Fig. 2 a–j. [Holotype 188: 097.] S yn. nov.

In the original description of Potthastia togabicolis, Sasa and Okazawa (1992) erroneously described tergite IX as having a rounded posterior margin without anal point. However, the species has a small triangular anal point on tergite ( Fig. 26 ). Several characters indicate that P. togabicolis is a junior synonym of P. gaedii (Meigen) , namely the anal point, a distinct incision on inner margin of the gonostylus, and the distinctive body coloration with partly yellowish thorax and legs.
