9. Caroxylon apiciflorum (Botsch.) Mucina View in CoL comb. nov.
Basionym:― Salsola apiciflora Botsch. View in CoL in Botanicheskii Zhurnal 58: 817 (1973).
Type:― SOUTH AFRICA. Ebenezar [Western Cape Prov.], in der Valei und am Ufer des Olifantsriver, unter 100 Fuss, November 1839, Drège 3000a’ (planta pubescens) (holotype LE-00011774 ! ; isotypes K-000243980 !, K-000243981 !, K-000243982 !, K-000244066 !).
Notes: ―Differences between Salsola apiciflora and Caroxylon divaricatum , both described from the same locality (Ebenezer, Olifants River mouth) on basis of Drège’s collections (Drège 3000a’ and Drège 3000a), are discussed by Botschantzev (1973: 817).
JSTOR Global Plants files the vouchers K-000243980!, K-000243981!, K-000243982! erroneously as ‘holotype’. Botschantzev (1973: 817) designated LE vouchers clearly as ‘typus’, while a K voucher is explicitly cited as ‘isotypus’.
Distribution: ―South Africa (WC): Olifants River Valley.
