Type Locality: Eritrea, Bogos Land, Keren.

Vernacular Names: Large-eared Leaf-nosed Bat.

Distribution: Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and Kenya. A record from Somalia is erroneous (M. Happold, pers. comm.).

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (nt).

Discussion: megalotis species group. Sometimes placed in the subgenus Syndesmotis ; see Legendre (1982) and Gaucher and Brosset (1990). Also see Hill (1963 b).
