Description
Adult ( Figure 5B View Figure 5 ). Wing expanse 14.5 mm. Head ivory-white, frons grey-black laterally. Antenna with scape dark brown on dorsal surface, yellow on ventral surface; flagellum black. Labial palpus pale white; second segment with basal three-quarters dark brown on outside; third segment mottled yellow, with a dark brown ring at base. Thorax and tegula dark brown. Fore wing ground colour dark brown; costal margin gently arched, grey-brown; apex bluntly rounded; termen oblique; a series of elongate dark brown spots extending from apex along termen to before tornus; a narrow, elongate triangular dark blotch from middle of dorsum oblique inward and reaching three-quarters across wing; discocellular stigma small and rounded, dark brown edged with yellow; outer transverse fascia arched outward, extending from beyond costal two-thirds to tornus, edged with yellow-white along inner side; cilia grey mixed with white. Hind wing and cilia deep grey except cilia yellow at base. Fore leg white, tibia and tarsus with outer side dark grey basally; mid- and hind legs grey black on outer side, pale orange yellow distally. Abdomen dark brown on dorsal surface, yellow-brown on ventral surface.
Male genitalia ( Figure 6B View Figure 6 )
Uncus slender, sclerotized strongly, carrying setae. Gnathos heavily sclerotized laterally, almost membranous medially. Valva nearly same width in basal threequarters, distal one-quarter triangular, narrowed to roundly pointed apex; dorsoproximal process slightly dilated distally. Sacculus broad, heavily sclerotized, with curved and pointed process directing upward, hamate. Juxta rectangular, concave slightly at middle on both posterior and anterior margins. Aedeagus stout, as long as sacculus, with a sclerotized spiny band at middle, lateral side dentate distally.
Female
Unknown.
Diagnosis
This species is similar to E. microdelta Meyrick by having a very large saccular process, but can be distinguished from it by the fore wing discal stigma elongate; the gnathos membranous anteriorly; the sacculus with hamate distal process; and the aedeagus with triangular spines along lateral margin distally. In E. microdelta Meyrick , the fore wing discal stigma is triangular, the gnathos is sclerotized anteriorly; and the sacculus bears irregularly trapezoidal distal process.
Etymology
The specific name is derived from the Latin hamatilis (= hamate), referring to the saccular process in the male genitalia.
