Lingulatus zhutong Lin & Li , sp. nov. ( Figs 37–38 View Figure 37 View Figure 38 , 47I–J View Figure 47 )
Etymology. The species is named after Zhu Tong, one of the 108 outlaws in the classical Chinese literature Outlaws of the Marsh; noun in apposition.
Diagnosis. The male of the new species is similar to L. zhangqing Lin & Li , sp. nov. by the anterior tegular sheet directed toward the clock 1:00 position, the thin embolus with a pointed tip, and the blunt tegular apophysis. However, the new species can be distinguished from the latter by the pincer-shaped dorsal tibial apophysis (vs. needle-shaped in the latter) and the anterior tegular sheet is almost as long as the posterior tegular sheet (vs. anterior tegular sheet almost shorter than posterior tegular sheet in the latter). The female of the new species can be distinguished from all congeners by the spermathecae with two 90° bends.
Description. Male (holotype). Total length 2.76; carapace 1.36 long, 1.16 wide, opisthosoma 1.40 long, 0.88 wide. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.08, ALE 0.07, PME 0.06, PLE 0.08, AME–AME 0.06, AME–ALE 0.03, PME–PME 0.08, PME–PLE 0.07, AME–PME 0.06, ALE–PLE 0.10. Chelicerae with one promarginal and two retromarginal teeth. Leg measurements: I 5.43 (1.49, 2.08, 1.31, 0.55), II 4.03 (1.07, 1.44, 0.94, 0.58), III 3.41 (0.87, 1.12, 0.86, 0.56), IV 5.27 (1.36, 1.63, 1.48, 0.80). Leg spination: I femur 4pv, 1d, tibia 7pv, 8rv, metatarsus 4-4v; II femur 2pv, 1d, tibia 6pv, 5rv, metatarsus 4pv, 3rv, III femur 1d, IV femur 1d.
Coloration ( Fig. 47I View Figure 47 ). Carapace brown, middle yellow. Chelicerae, endites and labium brown. Sternum yellow-brown. Legs paler yellow with black annulations. Opisthosoma oval, dorsum dark grey, middle with pair of white spots, dorsal scutum covering almost 2/3 opisthosoma, terminus with white spot, ventrum yellow. Spinnerets yellow.
Palp ( Fig. 37 View Figure 37 ). Femoral apophysis weak, almost three times longer than width of patella, with groove. Patella almost as long as wide. Ventral tibial apophysis blunt. Retrolateral tibial apophysis small, thick, triangular. Dorsal tibial apophysis long, almost as long as tibia, with pincer-shaped tip. Cymbium two times longer than wide. Bulb oval. Sperm duct U-shaped. Tegular apophysis inconspicuous, semicircular. Anterior tegular sheet, almost as long as embolus and posterior tegular sheet, arising at clock 1:00 position. Posterior tegular sheet arising at clock 5:00 position, slightly curved. Embolus with broad base and pointed tip, terminus slightly curved.
Female (IZCAS-Ar43957). Total length 3.72; carapace 1.51 long, 1.30 wide, opisthosoma 2.21 long, 1.41 wide. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.08, ALE 0.09, PME 0.07, PLE 0.08, AME–AME 0.06, AME–ALE 0.02, PME–PME 0.10, PME–PLE 0.08, AME–PME 0.07, ALE–PLE 0.07. Chelicerae with one promarginal and two retromarginal teeth. Leg measurements: I 5.83 (1.55, 2.26, 1.45, 0.57), II 4.41 (1.21, 1.56, 1.09, 0.55), III 3.89 (1.04, 1.20, 1.03, 0.62), IV 5.74 (1.56, 1.73, 1.64, 0.81). Leg spination: I femur 5pv, 1d, tibia 8-8v, metatarsus 4-4v; II femur 3pv, 1d, tibia 6-6v, metatarsus 4pv, 3rv, III femur 1d, IV femur 1d.
Coloration ( Fig. 47J View Figure 47 ). Similar to that of male except paler and dorsal scutum absent.
Epigyne ( Fig. 38 View Figure 38 ). Epigynal plate oval, ventrum strongly curved. Epigynal teeth at middle of epigynal plate. Copulatory openings inconspicuous. Copulatory ducts inconspicuous. Bursae large, almost oval, covering nearly half of epigynal plate. Glandular appendages short, transverse, directed laterally. Spermathecae long, with two 90° turns. Fertilization ducts directed toward clock 1:00 position from spermathecae.
