Epiphyte. Stem aerial. Cataphylls and prophylls green to reddish, with an entire apex and marcescent base. Petiole 8–25 cm long, green, sulcate with acute margins adaxially, abaxially obtuse, geniculum 0.5–0.7 cm long. Leaf-blade 24.0–52.2 × 6.8–15.3 cm, dark green, concolorous, erect to the petiole, chartaceous, oblong to elliptic, with a flat surface, apex acute to acuminate, base acute, absence of glandular dots. Midrib prominent on both sides, obscure primary lateral veins, 18–22 on both sides, secondary and tertiary veins reticulate, basal vein absent, collective vein 0.4–1.0 cm distant from the margin. Inflorescence. Peduncle 36.0– 53.7 cm long, green to slightly vinaceous, erect, terete. Spathe green to slightly vinaceous on the margin, persistent, 4.4–9.0 × 1.2 cm, sessile. Spadix 5.4–15.0 cm long, homogeneous, vinaceous, sessile (stipe absent), bisexual flowers, main spiral with 6–7 flowers; alternate spiral with 7–9 flowers, reddish berries with a yellow base, 2 seeds.

Distribution: — Anthurium gladiifolium is endemic to Brazil, occurring in Bahia, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro ( Flora do Brasil 2020). It was found at the Pedra do Pato trail (central PESB) and this is the first record of the species for this Park.

Ecology and phenology: —Flowering period from November to January ( Camelo et al. 2020), probably flowering throughout the year. In the PESB, it was found with flowers in February. Only one individual per phorophyte was observed.

Taxonomic notes: —Differs from other Anthurium species found in the PESB by its concolorous leaf blade with obscure primary lateral veins, its vinaceous spadix and by its reddish berries with yellow base.
