Rupicolous. Stem herbaceous. Prophylls green with carmine shades mainly at the base, turning into a straw-lie color when aged, entire, not very persistent. Sheath reaching only the base of the petiole, not horizontally flattened. Petiole 8.5–53.0 cm long, green, with vinaceous extrafloral nectaries, vinaceous ring at the apex, flattened adaxially, obtuse abaxially, geniculum absent. Leaf-blade 26–47 × 7.6–14.8 cm, green, discolorous, erect to the petiole, chartaceous, elliptic to oblong, with a flat surface, apex acute, acuminate, base acute, absence of glandular dots. Midrib green, obtuse on both sides, with vinaceous extrafloral nectaries, slightly sulcate adaxially, primary lateral veins absent, basal vein absent, collective vein absent, secondary and tertiary veins parallel-pinnate. Inflorescence 1 per leaf axil. Peduncle 4–19 cm long, green, with vinaceous extrafloral nectaries. Spathe 7–9 cm long, green at the base, yellow to whitish at the apex, with vinaceous extrafloral nectaries. Spadix 7.5–11.5 cm long, heterogeneous, unisexual flowers, without sterile staminate flowers at the apex. Staminate fertile section 3.5–5.5 cm long, matte yellow. Staminate sterile section matte yellow, 1.0– 2.7 cm long. Pistillate section dark yellow 0.8–3.0 cm long. Berries not observed.

Distribution: — Philodendron edmundoi is endemic to Brazil, occuring in Bahia, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo ( Flora do Brasil 2020). It was found at the Trilha do Carvão (central PESB) trail, and this is the first record of the species for this Park.

Ecology and phenology: —Presents flowering from October to January and fruiting in April (Sakuragui et al. 2011). In the PESB, it was found with flowers in November and observed sterile in February. Found in small populations of 2–3 individual on rocky walls, near small streams.

Taxonomic notes: —Recognized by its rupicolous habit, vinaceous ring at the petiole apex and the absence of primary lateral veins.
