Genus PYRRHONEURA Kirkaldy View in CoL

Pyrrhoneura Kirkaldy View in CoL , Haw. Sugar Plant. Assoc. Expt. Sta., Ent. Bull. 1 (9): 434, 1906. Haplotype, Pyrrhoneura saccharicida Kirkaldy View in CoL .

This genus may be separated from other genera of the tribe Otiocerini by the following combination of characters: media separated from the stem of subcosta-radius; head when viewed laterally broadly rounded, following the contour of the compound eyes; antennae short, without a subantennal process. Nine species are known in this genus. They seem to be rather widely distributed in the East Indian and Pacific islands. Muir has described a species from Nyasaland which is the only species known outside the Pacific area.
