TYPE LOCALITY: "Asia", fixed by Thomas (1911a: 135) as "Bengal" [ India] .
DISTRIBUTION: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, China, Laos, India, Indonesia (Sumatra), Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, and republics of the former USSR. Formerly found in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, and Indonesia (Java and Bali).
STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; U.S. ESA and IUCN - Endangered.
