TYPE SPECIES: Felis pardochrous Hodgson, 1844 (= Felis bengalensis Kerr, 1792 View in CoL ), by original designation.

SYNONYMS: Ictailurus Severtzov, 1858 ; Mayailurus Imaizumi, 1967 ; Viverriceps Gray, 1867; Zibethailurus Severtzov, 1858 .

COMMENTS: Although there is little dispute that these four taxa are distinct and represent a single monophyletic group, some have chosen to emphasize their distinctiveness by placing them in monotypic genera.
