TYPE LOCALITY: "à la côte de Mosambique" [ Mozambique].
DISTRIBUTION: Subsaharan Africa, except in the desert area of the north and the tropical rain-forest of the west. See Ginsberg and Macdonald (1990, fig. 6) for present status of population.
STATUS: U.S. ESA and IUCN - Endangered.
