SUBGENUS DITROPANDRIA PACE, 1984 View in CoL C
Ditropandria Pace, 1984c:75 View in CoL . Pace, 1991:301. Hanley, in press b.
Type species: Hoplandria (Ditropandria) paupercula Pace (1984c) by original designation.
Abbreviated description: Length of adults 2.2 mm. Body broadly fusiform, widest area at apex of elytra; pubescence variably dense on pronotum, elytra, and abdominal terga and sterna; sparse on head. Head slightly broader than long, eyes moderately small, about 0.4 times length of head. Labium with ligula very long, length subequal to length of labial palps, slightly broadened apically and bilobed apically with fork about 1/5 length of ligula; two short, medial setae of prementum present, about 0.3 times length of ligula, insertion of setae nearly adjacent; median pseudopore field narrow and linear without pseudopores, hypoglossal lobes moderately long, reaching to middle of ligula, with relatively short, subequal to slightly longer than width of lobe, comb-like, straight setae along entire length of adoral margin. Labial palpi elongate, overall length 6–7 times longer than greatest width, with 3 distinct articles. Pronotum slightly transverse, about 1.1 times wider than long. Elytra moderately broad, wider apically than basally; apico-lateral angles sinuate; elytra together about 1.5 times wider than long. Legs with tarsal formula 4-5-5. Abdomen elongate, more or less parallel-sided, tapering apically to broadly pointed apex. Aedeagus with bulb of median lobe elongate, generally subequal to length of tube. Spermatheca slightly bent with three primary divisions: basal bulb, simple and broadly rounded at base; neck, very long with 2–3 distinct bends of 90–120∞; and tube.
Habitat: Unknown.
Comments: Specimens of representing species of Ditropandria s.s. were not examined during the course of this study since none are available for loan. Repeated efforts to borrow these specimens ended in repeated failure. As such, this subgenus cannot be distinguished from the Ditropandria subgenus Pedandria with confidence and thus no diagnosis is provided. The above abbreviated description was derived from morphological information extracted from Pace (1984c), who provided a very brief description and few illustrations of Ditropandria s.s. Ditropandria s.s. contains three described species, D. (Ditropandria) alternata Pace , D. (D.) dauphinensis (Pace) , and D. (D.) paupercula (Pace) .
