Hoplandrini Casey: Génier & Klimaszewski, (1986: 202 [lapsus calami]. Klimaszewski, 2000:19 [lapsus calami].
Type genus: Hoplandria Kraatz, 1857 ; by designation of Casey (1910).
Diagnosis: Tarsi 4-5- 5 in most genera, but 5-5- 5 in Pseudoplandria , 4-4- 4 in some Hoplandriina , and 4- 4-5 in some Microlia . Apical segment of each maxillary palpus with distinct pseudosegment. Terminal segment of each labial palpus usually with a poorly sclerotized band near the apex giving appearance of a pseudosegment. Velum of parameres with reticulated pattern sclerotized supports. Body moderately elongate, with abdomen generally appearing fusiform. Ligula generally with a well-defined fork at apex. Pronotum generally broadly oval with dense pubescence and large, differentiated macrosetae directed laterally. Elytra typically with lateral-posterior margins sinuate.
Key: The key to the genera of hoplandriines excludes six genera recognized as members of the tribe: Acantoxyura Pace , Aleochandria Cameron , Alloplandria Pace , Bessoglossa Pace , Brachidamorpha Cameron , Palaeochara Bernhauer. Specimens from these genera either could not obtained and examined or were only superficially examined and not dissected fully. The key includes ten genera of hoplandriines that represents the vast majority of the taxonomic diversity of the tribe.
