Remarks: This rare species is known from about 20 specimens that have been landed in Taiwan; no additional specimens were recorded during the 2012 survey.

Springeria melanosoma Chan, 1965: 40 , figs 1–2. Holotype: USNM 198121 About USNM , South China Sea, about 170 miles south of Hong Kong, 19°20' N, 114°13' to 16' E, 500–530 fathoms depth.

Taiwan voucher material: No specimens examine in this study.

Remarks: This rare deep-sea legged-skate was not observed during the 2012 survey, but is occasionally observed at fish markets around Taiwan.

Conservation status: Least Concern.
