Erigeron glutinosus Linnaeus View in CoL , Systema Naturae, ed. 12, 2: 549; Mantissa Plantarum: 112. 1767.
"Habitat in Hispaniae, Galliae australis montosis maritimis." RCN: 6243.
Type not designated.
Original material: Herb. Linn. No. 994.7 ( LINN) ; [icon] in Daléchamps, Hist. General. Pl. 2: 1201. 1586; [icon] in Barrelier, Pl. Galliam: 95, t. 158. 1714.
Note: Specific epithet spelled “glutinosum” in the protologue.
Brullo (in Webbia 34: 290. 1979) stated that the unspecified Linnaean type was of uncertain identification, and that the name should therefore be treated as ambiguous. Linnaeus’ name has been treated as the basionym of Chiliadenus glutinosus (L.) Fourr. but no original elements corresponding with this usage of the name appear to be in existence.
