Type locality. Port Natal [Durban, South Africa] .
Type material. Holotype in NHMUK, examined.
Distribution. Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho, Uganda, Congo, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire ( Pinhey 1979; Vári et al. 2002; Yakovlev 2011). New record for Rwanda.
Material examined: 2 ♂, Rwanda, Kigali, 23.iii.1961, E. Cossement ( RMCA) ; 2 ♂, Rwanda, Kisenyi , 27.iv.1957, Dr. Fontaine ( RMCA) ; 2 ♂, Rwanda, Gabiru , 20.10.1932, L. Burgeon ( RMCA) ; 1 ♂, Urundi, Astrida (now Butare ), 6.xii.1961, Allaerts ( RMCA) .
