This species occurs in unglaciated areas from the Ozark Mountains (Poulton & Stewart 1991) north to Illinois and east to New Jersey ( Earle 2009), Maryland ( Duffield & Nelson 1990), and the Carolinas (Kondratieff & Kirchner 1995). In Illinois, it is known only from streams in the uplifted Shawnee Hills ( DeWalt et al. 2005) and in Indiana only from Monroe County ( Grubbs 2004).
