Triscaedecia dactyloptera Hampson, 1905 View in CoL
( Figs 1 View FIGURES 1–6 , 11 View FIGURES 11–13 , 14 View FIGURE 14 )
Triscaedecia dactyloptera Hampson, 1905: 247 View in CoL . Type locality: Sri Lanka.
Material examined. 1 ♀, Ceylon, Haldummula (3000 feet), 13.xii. [19]09; W.O., in BMNH .
Diagnosis. This species is the largest in the genus (wingspan 26 mm), dark brown in color, with more reduced white markings than other species. In contrast to T. septemdactyla , the white stripe arising from the forewing dorsum is deflected distally and only reaches the middle of the wing, remaining distinct from the discal spot. Hampson supplied drawings of the adult moth, venation and a lateral view of the head. Fletcher (1910) updated Hampson's illustration to show the maxillary palpus.
Distribution: Sri Lanka.
Description (additional to Hampson 1905; Fletcher, 1910).
Female genitalia. Posterior apophyses straight. Papilla analis narrow, apically sharpened. Anterior apophyses long, equal to posterior apophyses in length. Antrum shaped as an oblique tube. Ductus long, wide, sclerotized, strongly widening at junction with bursa copulatrix. Ductus seminalis wide, equal to total length of ductus and bursa copulatrix. Bursa copulatrix round, with two lunule signa surrounded by tiny sclerotized spines.
Notes. Unfortunately, the type specimen of T. dactyloptera has not been examined, but we have at our disposal a female from Sri Lanka, whose genitalia are here described and illustrated for the first time.
