Type. China. Holotype male ( SMTD).

Diagnosis. Length: 4.0– 5.9 mm. Width: 3.1– 3.1 mm. Derm nut brown to fuscopiceous; rostrum in male 0.75 of body length, female longer than body; antennal segment 2 as long as 1, 3 almost twice as long as 4, 5 and 7 longer than 6; antennal club slightly longer than funicular segments 6–7; scutellum large, longer than broad, scutate, clothed with white scales; mesepimeron densely clothed with clavate, white scales; elytral striae narrow, moderately deep punctures large; intervals broad, flat, clothed with short, narrow, testaceous scales, longer, narrow, clavate white scales scattered along margins; crosshatch setae short, suberect, testaceous; pro- mesofemoral teeth very small, metafemoral tooth small; abdominal sternite 1 and 2 same length behind coxal cavity; 5 of female with shallow median declivity. Genitalia: not dissected.

Distribution. China: Beijing Province, Baihaushan, Beijing; Jiangsu Province, Shanghai (type locality).

Remarks. This species can be separated from the members of this group by the lack of any pronotal and elytral macula or fascia. When observed from the dorsal aspect the white scutellum stands out and in lateral view the white mesepimeron. Appears similar to Curculio productus (Pascoe) (1883) in that both have no macula or fascia and large white scutellum, but C. productus has densely clothed white, mesepimeron, mesepisternum and sternites 1–2.
