posterior macula of clavate, cretaceous scales. Elytra: striae narrow, deep; shallow scutellar
declivity; humeri feebly pronounced, rounded; basal fascia from intervals 2–4 flanking scutellum
of clavate cretaceous scales; median diamond shaped macula on intervals 1–3 of clavate,
cretaceous scales; crosshatch setae short, suberect, piceous. Legs: all femora with small teeth;
femoral shank narrow to robust clava; metafemur exceeding elytral apex by 2 3 dorsal width of
clava; clothed with narrow, elongate, acute apex, white scales; tibiae subsinuate, pro- mesouncus
small, metauncus smaller. Abdomen: sternite 2 longer than 1 behind coxal cavity; 2 with lateral

302 densely clothed with clavate, cretaceous scales. Pygidium : large, with moderately long, narrow, clavate, seta-like cretaceous scales. Genitalia: not dissected.
Remarks. This species cannot be confused with any of the species in this group due to the elytral, diamond shaped macula, laterobasal pronotal macula, short fascia flanking scutellum and scutellum of cretaceous scales. Curculio heterfunicularis (Heller) appears similar to this species, but lacks the short fascia of cretaceous scales flanking the scutellum and has a longer rostrum.
Etymology. This is from the specific epithet ‘‘unus,’’ the Latin noun for ‘‘one,’’ and ‘‘maculata,’’ the Latin noun for ‘‘spot.’’
