Type material. Holotype ♂, TANZANIA: Bunduki, Uluguru Mountains, Mgeta, 07º02’S, 37º38’E, 30.IV– 2.V.1957, P. Basilewsky & N. Leleup ( MRAC 111888); Paratype: 1♂, Mazumbai National Forest Reserve, west Usambara Mountains, 04º45’S, 38º30’E, V.1969, K.M. Howell ( MRAC 147252).

Etymology. The name is derived from the country name, Tanzania, from which both specimens were collected.

Diagnosis. C. tanzanense sp. nov. is most similar to C. leucophaeum Simon, 1897 , in the tapering almost Sshaped TA and the relatively short CA (see Lotz, 2007a: figs 76–77), but differs by the bent TA apex bending toward the CON and by the RTA being broader and the CA being longer ( Figs 50–51 View FIGURES 40 – 51. 40 – 42 C ).

Description. Male: (n = 2): TL = 5.10 (4.7–5.5); CL = 2.30 (2.1–2.5); CW = 1.85 (1.8–1.9); OAL = 0.40 (0.4– 0.4); OAW = 0.83 (0.80–0.85); CLL = 0.05 (0.05–0.05). Chelicerae: robust with long fangs; fang furrow with six teeth of unequal size, with PMT:RMT = 3:3 ( Fig. 49 View FIGURES 40 – 51. 40 – 42 C ). Measurements: AME–AME 0.10; AME–ALE 0.10; AME diameter 0.15; PME–PME 0.15; PME–PLE 0.10; PME diameter 0.15; MOQAW 0.40; MOQPW 0.45; CI (CL/ CW) 1.32; LL:CL 5.24; STL 1.2; STW 1.0. Leg measurements: I—3.5+1.1+3.1+3.8+1.6 = 13.1; II— 2.7+1.0+2.4+2.7+0.8 = 9.6; III—2.1+0.8+1.6+2.3+0.7 = 7.5; IV—3.0+1.0+2.6+3.4+0.8 = 10.8; Palp— 1.1+0.4+0.5+1.2 = 3.2. Leg spines: I 0-1p-0, 2v-3v- 0, 2v- 1v-1v; II 0-0-1p, 2v-2v- 1p, 2v-2 v1 p- 1v; III 0-1p1r-1p1r, 1v 1p- 1v 1p1r, 2v 1p1r- 1v 1p1r- 3v 1p1r; IV 0-1p1r-1p1r, 2v 1r- 1v 1p1r-1p1r, 2v 1p1r- 2v 1p1r- 3v 1p1r. Abdomen: creamy-yellow with a slight heartmark. Palp ( Figs 50-51 View FIGURES 40 – 51. 40 – 42 C ): cymbium elongate, more than twice tibia length (excluding RTA), with apophysis pointing proximally; RTA broad, with double point at apex; a short thick spine dorsal on tibia; TA sclerotized, long, tapering to a point at apex; EM long, almost encircling tegulum, ending at CON apex; CON not sclerotized but distinct.
