Etymology. The species name is a patronym for Stefan Foord, collector of the type specimen.
Diagnosis. C. foordi sp. nov. females are similar to those of C. aculeutum Simon, 1884 , but can be differentiated by the longer copulatory ducts and by the placement of the copulatory openings in the epigynal depression, being medio-lateral ( Figs 8–9 View FIGURES 1 – 12. 1 – 3 ) instead of anterio-lateral (see Lotz, 2007a: figs 3–4).
Description. Female: (n = 1): TL = 5.3; CL = 2.1; CW = 1.5; OAL = 0.35; OAW = 0.8; CLL = 0.05. Chelicerae: robust with long fangs; fang furrow with six teeth of unequal size, PMT:RMT = 3:3 ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1 – 12. 1 – 3 ). Measurements: AME–AME 0.10; AME–ALE 0.10; AME diameter 0.15; PME–PME 0.15; PME–PLE 0.15; PME diameter 0.15; MOQAW 0.40; MOQPW 0.45; CI (CL/CW) 1.40; LL:CL 4.14; STL 1.00; STW 0.90. Leg measurements: I—2.3+0.9+2.2+2.4+0.9 = 8.7; II—1.7+0.8+1.3+1.5+0.6 = 5.9; III—1.2+0.6+0.9+1.2+0.5 = 4.4; IV—1.8+0.8+1.5+2.1+0.6 = 6.8; Palp—0.7+0.3+0.4+0.7 = 2.1. Leg spines: I 0-1p-1p, 0- 3 v-0, 2v- 0- 1 v; II 0-1p-1p, 0, 2v- 0- 1 v; III 0-1p1r-1p1r, 0-0-1p1r, 2v 1p-1p1r- 3v 1p1r; IV 0-0-1p1r, 0-0-1p1r, 2v 1p1r- 2v 1p1r- 3v 1p1r. Abdomen: yellowish with indistinct heartmark. Epigynum ( Figs 8–9 View FIGURES 1 – 12. 1 – 3 ): depression wider than long, oval; copulatory openings in medial edge of depression; internally, copulatory ducts proceed anteriorly, looping in a circle before proceeding posteriorly to end in anterior part of spermathecae; copulatory ducts slightly distended in lateral part of loop; fertilization tubes enter spermathecae postero-medially.
Male: unknown.
