Lichen calcareus Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 1140. 1753, nom. cons.
"Habitat in Europae rupibus marmoreis." RCN: 8167.
Conserved type ( Jørgensen & al. in Taxon 43: 650. 1994): Sweden. Gotland, Visby, 26 Jun 1918, Malme, Lich. Suec. Exsicc. No. 772 (UPS).
Current name: Aspicilia calcarea (L.) Körb. ( Hymeneliaceae).
Note: See discussion by Jørgensen & al. (in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 115: 283. 1994), who concluded that none of the original elements agreed with current usage, and successfully proposed the name for conservation, with a conserved type.
