Leucosolenia gardineri Dendy, 1913
Dendy (1913: 2) extensively described this species from the Chagos Archipelago. It forms lobose masses of tightly anastomosed tubuli measuring 2.5 x 1.5 cm. There are pseudopores at the surface leading to pseudatria. The
spicules include two size categories of triactines (140 x 12 µm and 74 x 7 µm) and one category of tetractines with apical acties of 50 µm. The species is currently assigned to Ascaltis .
