TYPE MATERIAL. — Holotype IMT 81-5 [not seen], figured by Kosuge & Suzuki (1985: pl. 11, fig. 5 [erroneous “6” caption], pl. 33, fig. 9) and Higo et al. (2001: 67 G2437).

TYPE LOCALITY. — Nada, Wakayama Prefecture, Kii Peninsula ( Gobō District , central Honshū, Japan) .

MATERIAL EXAMINED. — Philippines. Bohol, tangle net, 80- 190- 212 m, 2 lv, 2 dd .

100 m, 1 lv, ( MO, obtained from a dealer). Loyalty Islands. Lifou. LIFOU 2000: stn 1462, Baie du Santal, Norfolk Ridge. SMIB 8: stn DW 159, 24°46’S, 168°08’E, 241- 20°47.1’S, 167°03.2’E, 70-120 m, 1 dd.

245 m, 1 dd (Fig. 174). — NORFOLK 1: stn DW 1726, 23°18’S, Fiji. BORDAU 1: stn DW 1472, 19°40’S, 178°10’W, 262-266 168°15’E, 185-207 m, 1 lv; stn DW 1727, 23°17’S, 168°14’E, m, 1 dd (Fig. 74) .

DISTRIBUTION. — Kii Peninsula , Japan, “rocky bottom in 40-100 m ” (Tsuchiya 2000). Recorded from the Philippines (live in 80-100 m) on the basis of a specimen from a dealer and from the Loyalty Islands, Norfolk Ridge and Fiji, live in 109-207 m, empty shells down to 262 m. First record for the southwest Pacific .

REMARKS — Protoconch of 2.2 conical whorls, 535 Μm high, 710 Μm wide at the base. Protoconch-I of about 0.9 whorls, sculptured with pustules over the entire surface. Protoconch-II of about 1.3 whorls, with 2 spiral keels, sculptured by a series of subsutural nodulose prosocline threads and a series of opisthocline nodulose threads over each keel. Threads tending to fuse, to give rise to opisthocline nodulose collabral riblets. Protoconch of the same type as in the Philippines specimen examined.
