TYPE MATERIAL. — Holotype KPM NG0103758 , figured by Kosuge & Suzuki (1985: pl. 25, fig. 1) and Higo et al. (2001:67, G2416) [examined good photographs only].

TYPE LOCALITY. — Off Okinoshima, Kōchi Prefecture (southwest Shikoku, Japan) .

MATERIAL EXAMINED. — Coral Sea. MUSORSTOM 5: stn 304, 167°50’E, 276-350 m, 3 dd.

Banc Nova, 22°10’S, 159°26’E, 385-420, 1 dd (Figs 117, 118, 191). Loyalty Ridge. SMIB 5: stn DW 90, 22°19’S. 168°42’E, 340 m, Norfolk Ridge. SMIB 8: DW 158, 24°46’S, 168°08’E, 262- 1 dd; stn DW 92, 22°20’S, 168°41’E, 280 m, 1 dd.

290 m, 1 dd. — NORFOLK 1: stn DW 1651, Banc N, 23°27’S ,

DISTRIBUTION. — Previously recorded only from the type locality (Tsuchiya 2000: 405, Higo et al. 1999: 218). The present records, from the Coral Sea, Norfolk Ridge and Loyalty Ridge , empty shells in 280-385 m, extend the range significantly southwards .

REMARKS. — Protoconch of 2.1 conical whorls, 625 Μm high, 810 Μm wide at the base. Protoconch-I of about 0.9 whorls, sculptured with pustules over the entire surface. Protoconch-II of about 1.2 whorls, with 2 weakly developed spiral keels, and sculptured with a series of subsutural threads and a series of similar threads over each keel.
