NEOCHAVESIA Williams & Granara de Willink, 1992
Neochavesia Williams & Granara de Willink, 1992: 232 (replacement name for Chavesia Balachowsky, 1957 ).
Type species: Chavesia caldasiae Balachowsky, 1957 , by original designation.
Introduction: Eight species of Neochavesia are now known ( Schneider & LaPolla, 2011) and adult males have been described for two of them ( N. caldasiae (Balachowsky) ( Fig. 19) and N. lapollai Williams ( Fig. 20) ( Williams, 2004a)). The adult male of a third species is described below. The adult females of all the known species possess well-developed protruding anal lobes, and an anal ring without cells and placed well forward of the apex of the abdomen. A generic diagnosis and a key based on the adult females are given in Schneider and LaPolla (2011).
For a morphological diagnosis of the males of this genus, see key to genera above.
