Material examined. None.

Distribution. West Pacific (the Ryukyus, Taiwan, China, Philippines, Borneo, Indonesia, New Guinea). Remarks. According to Crane (1975: map 7), U. triangularis consists of two geographic subspecies. U. triangularis triangularis is distributed in the western Pacific and U. triangularis bengali Crane, 1975 , in the eastern Indian Ocean. Both are now regarded as separate species (Ng et al. 2008). U. triangularis is a relatively small species (CW <16.5 mm) and prefers high intertidal habitats ( Crane 1975), and for these reasons, it may have been overlooked by collectors in the past. For example, it has only relatively recently been recorded from Taiwan ( Wang 1984) and Penghu ( Hung 1997). Therefore, although there is only one record of U. triangularis from China (Guangdong), more records from other provinces are likely after careful surveys.
