Distribution. West Pacific ( Japan, Taiwan, China, Philippines, New Guinea, Australia), Central and South Pacific, and eastern Indian Ocean ( Thailand).
Remarks. Cano (1889) recorded Gelasimus chlorophthalmus from Xiamen, Fujian, but Crane (1975: 103) questioned the identification without any comment. However, its distribution in Fujian is not impossible because it has been recorded in adjacent areas, e.g., continental China ( Hong Kong) ( Table 1 View TABLE 1 ), Penghu Island in the central Taiwan Strait ( Shih et al. 2008), and on the western coast of Taiwan ( Shih 1994).
