Description. This species is well illustrated by Stephensen (1918) and a detailed description is available in Vinogradov et al. (1996).
Size. Female: 5.60–11.20 mm; male: 7.00– 10.50 mm.
Distribution. Pacific Ocean: California; South China Sea; New Zealand; Three Kings Island; southern Australia. In the present study this species was found in three samples from the surface to as deep as 1682– 1591 m and occurs from 20°S to 35°N and 83°– 126°W. Atlantic Ocean: 45°N– 45°S; Mediterranean Sea; Gulf of Maine; Georges Bank; Bermuda; New York–Azores; Madeira; Guinea Current. Indian Ocean: Red Sea; 5°N– 13°S.
