Paratypes: (3 ♀♀): the same data as Holotype, ( ODIC); and 15 spec.: Argentina, Buenos Aires, Río Luján, 30-X-2009, Di Iorio leg., reared from larvae in a nest of Anumbius annumbi , (7 ODIC, 8 JHAC).
Description.
Male. Body ( Fig. 1 View Figs ) measurements (mm): TL 3.5, EW 1.8; cuticle darkish brown and brown on dorsal surfaces, brown on ventral surfaces; in general large and elongate, covered with brown and silver-grey recumbent setation. Head finely punctate, with brown recumbent setation. Palpi entirely brown. Ocellus on front present. Antennae, brown, with 11 antennomeres, antennal club with 3 antennomeres ( Fig. 3 View Figs ), with the last segment moderately enlarged, with light brown setation. Pronotum finely punctate like head, covered with silver-grey recumbent setation. Discally with two circular depressions ( Fig. 2 View Figs ). Scutellum triangular, finely punctate as pronotum, with dark setation. Elytra finely punctate, on each humerus with a large bump; cuticle darkish, covered with brown setation. On each elytron with (or without) very small circular spots of silver-grey setation. Epipleura dark brown, finely punctate, covered with silver-grey setation. Mesosternum and metasternum covered with silver-grey setation. Abdominal ventrites finely punctate, covered with silver-grey, recumbent setation. Legs brown, with light brown setation; tibiae with short, brown spines. Genitalia as shown in Fig. 4 View Figs .
Female. Female externally similar to male, but differs from male by the small terminal antennomere.
Variability. Body measurements (mm): TL 3.5-4.5, EW 2.0.
Differential diagnosis. The new species is similar to other three species distributed in Argentina, Paranovelsis bitaeniatus (Steinheil, 1869) , Paranovelsis inexpectata Herrmann & Háva, 2016 , and Paranovelsis platanegrachei Herrmann & Háva, 2014 , but differs from them by the unicolorous elytral and pronotal cuticle, two circular depressions on pronotum and structure of antennae and male genitalia.
Etymology. The new species is named after the genus name of the bird Anumbius annumbi (Vieillot, 1817) ( Aves: Rurnariidae).
Bionomy. The species was collected in birds ( Aves) nests of Anumbius annumbi (Vieillot, 1817) ( Furnariidae ) and Coryphistera alaudina (Burmeister, 1860) ( Furnariidae ).
