Genus Caecognathia Dollfus, 1901 View in CoL , restricted synonymy.
Cohen & Poore 1994: 310; Svavarsson 2002: 151.
Type species. Anceus stygius G. O. Sars, 1877 (original designation).
Diagnosis. The most recent diagnosis of the genus is that of Cohen and Poore (1994).
Remarks. Cohen & Poore (1994) provided diagnoses of this genus, and later Svavarsson (2002). According to these authors’ generic diagnosis, pylopod has two or three articles. Whereas detailed studies of pylopod with a higher magnification microscope revealed a tiny knob at the distal end of the third article of the pylopod in this new species (4-articulated). However, this has no taxonomic significance because the genus holds species with variable numbers of articles in the pylopod.
