Previously proposed synonyms. Cyclocoelum (Postpharyngeum) ovopunctatum Stossich, 1902 — Witenberg (1923); Haematotrephus fasciatus Stossich, 1902 , Monostomum vicarium Arnsdorff, 1908 (= Selfcoelum vicarium [ Arnsdorff, 1908] n. comb.), Cyclocoelum orientale Skrjabin, 1913 , Cyclocoelum straightum Khan, 1935 (= Morishitium straightum [ Khan, 1935]) and Cyclocoelum turusigi Yamaguti, 1939 — Dubois (1959).
Remarks. This species was originally described as Cyclocoelum ovopunctatum Stossich, 1902 . Kossack (1911) examined the specimens used in the original description of this species by Stossich (1902), concluded that some of the specimens represented a second species ( Cyclocoelum vicarium [Arnsdroff, 1908]), and redescribed S. ovopunctatum n. comb. using those specimens that conformed to this species. This species was considered to be a synonym of Cyclocoelum obscurum ( Leidy, 1887) by Joyeux & Baer (1927). It has a postpharyngeal genital pore and the vitelline fields are not confluent posteriorly, placing it in Selfcoelum . No oral or ventral sucker described— Stossich (1902); Kossack (1911) and Dubois (1959).
