Type host. Red - wattled lapwing, Vanellus indicus (Boddaert) (Syn. Lobivanellus indicus [Boddaert]) ( Charadriiformes : Charadriidae ).
Type locality. Hoshiarpur District, Punjab, India.
Remarks. Although originally described as Haematotrephus (Haematotrephus) lobivanelli Gupta, 1958 , this species was considered to be a synonym of Cyclocoelum (H.) vanelli ( Rudolphi, 1819) (= Uvitellina vanelli [ Rudolphi, 1819]) by Dubois (1965). Rudimentary oral sucker present—Gupta (1958).
