Type host. Black-winged or common stilt, Himantopus himantopus (Linnaeus) ( Charadriiformes : Recurvirostridae ).
Type locality. Palestine; specific type locality unknown.
Additional host. Smew, Mergus albellus (Linnaeus) ( Anseriformes : Anatidae )— Yamaguti (1971).
Additional localities. Morocco; Georgia (country) — Witenberg (1928).
Remarks. The anterior end of the specimen used in the description of H. magniproles Witenberg, 1928 was bent and no observations or measurements of structures of the anterior end are available; however, it appears to lack a rudimentary oral sucker—Witenberg (1928) and Bashkirova (1950).
