Type host. Northern jacana, Jacana spinosa (Linnaeus) ( Charadriiformes : Jacanidae ). Type locality. Laguna Los Jicaros, Sector Santa Elena, Area de Conservaión Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Remarks. This species has a pretesticular ovary that forms a triangle with the testes (Haematotrephinae), the genital pore is located at the anterior margin of the pharynx and the vitelline fields are confluent posteriorly placing it in Neohaematotrephus. Rudimentary oral sucker present—Zamparo et al. (2003).
