Pseudoszidatitrema sinica ( Zhang, Yang & Li, 1987) View in CoL n. comb. — Type and only species
Type host. Mallard, Anas platyrhynchos Linnaeus ( Anseriformes : Anatidae ).
Type locality. Chengdu City, Peng County, District of Chengdu, People’s Republic of China.
Remarks. This species was originally described as Szidatitrema sinica Zhang, Yang & Li, 1987. This species has a posttesticular ovary that forms a triangle with the testes (Szidatitreminae), a prepharyngeal genital pore and the vitelline fields are confluent posteriorly, placing it in Pseudoszidatitrema n. gen. Certainly in a series of specimens representing a species, one can expect to find some anomalies (normal or introduced in fixation) in characteristics such as the placement of the genital pore and/or the extent of the vitelline fields posteriorly (confluent or not), and sometimes the genital pore may not be clearly visible and the posterior extent of the vitelline fields may be obscured by the uterus and/or posterior arch of the cyclocoel (see discussion below of the variability of these characteristics). However, we feel that these characteristics are reasonably reliable at the generic level within the cyclocoelids. Oral and ventral sucker absent—Zhang et al. (1987).
