Pseudoszidatitrema View in CoL n. gen.
(Members of this genus have a prepharyngeal genital pore and the vitelline fields are confluent posteriorly)
Diagnosis. Cyclocoelidae ; Szidatitreminae. Body lanceolate to linguiform, sometimes tapered anteriorly. Rudimentary oral and ventral suckers absent in P. sinica ( Zhang, Yang & Li, 1987) n. comb., only species currently assigned to genus. Genital pore prepharyngeal. Posttesticular ovary posterior or opposite to posterior testis, forming triangle with oblique testes near posterior arch of the cyclocoel. Uterus intercecal in P. sinica . Vitelline fields confluent posteriorly. Parasites in air sacs, lungs, and infraorbital and nasal sinuses of birds.
Remarks. The prepharyngeal placement of the genital pore and the posterior confluence of the vitelline fields in S zidatitrema sinica Zhang, Yang & Li, 1987 necessitated the establishment of a new genus to accept this species.
