Distribution: A primarily lower continental rise and abyssal species: North Atlantic and Newfoundland Basins, 3,264 –5,018 m; Argentine Basin, 2,707 –5,208; mid-Atlantic at the Equator, 3,459 –3,730 m; eastern Atlantic from the West European Basin to the Cape Basin, 2,124 –4,829 m; western Indian Ocean, 3,272 – 3,888 m; and eastern Indian Ocean (Bay of Bengal), 2,520 m ( Scheltema 1985, Ivanov & Scheltema 2002).

Remarks: With its great geographic range from the western Atlantic to the Indian Ocean, and great depth distribution, Chevroderma turnerae may form a species complex. The apparent lack of continuity in the western Atlantic between the North American and Argentine Basins is discussed below.
